Called to Virtue
2 Peter 1:3 (KJV)
Virtue is an attribute that is missing in most people’s lives today. There is a lack of character that causes many to look out (only primarily) for themselves. This selfish attitude allows a person to easily ignore basic goodness in their dealings with others and it becomes easy to be cruel in their conversations and daily interactions. Sadly, many times people of faith are no different in their actions than the people in the world.
It is so important that you realize that God has called people of faith to virtue. God desires for those who represent Him to demonstrate a different attitude from that expressed by the majority of mankind. The Bible challenges you to love your enemy, bless those who curse you, do good to people who spitefully use you, and goes so far as to command you to feed your enemy when he is hungry.
Are you guilty of ignoring kindness and goodness in your dealings with your neighbors and friends? Are there attitudes that you possess that are contrary to the example of God’s character?
This week I want you to meditate, pray, and consider that God has called you to virtue. Faith is the right foundation, but you must begin develop godly character that will result in outward expressions of goodness.
