About Us
We Believe
- The Bible is the written, infallible, authoritative and inspired Word of God.
- There is one true God who revealed Himself as Father in Creation, through His Son in redemption, and as Holy Spirit through empowerment.
- Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and the shed blood on the cross of Calvary.
- Pardon and forgiveness of sins are obtained by genuine repentance - a confession and forsaking of sins.
- In obedience to the Word of God we baptize by immersion in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- The Holy Spirit, which is available to the believer today, is a gift of God to empower us to be a witness and to live an overcoming life.
- The gifts of the Spirit are in operation in the Church today.
- Jesus Christ is preparing a church as a bride adorned for her husband and is coming back for His bride, to reign eternally with Him.
Worship
The worship of The Church At Covington consists of collective and individual expressions of joy, gratitude, and praise to our God and Savior Jesus Christ. The demonstration of the Spirit of God in our service, although frequent, is not a planned or orchestrated activity. We believe in following the leading of the Spirit of God in all aspects of our services and lives. Our worship is based on Bible principles as follows:
- Acts 4:24 - "they lifted up their voice to God with one accord..." therefore, we pray together out loud.
- Psalms 134:2 - "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord." therefore, we lift our hands in praise.
- Psalms 98:4 - "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise." therefore, we sing with all of our hearts.
- II Samuel 6:5 - "...and all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments." therefore, we play musical instruments.
- Psalm 47:1 - "...O clap your hands all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph." therefore, we clap and shout unto God.
- Psalm 150:4 - "...Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; praise Him with stringed instruments and organs." therefore, we dance in the spirit.
- Psalm 22:22 - "I will declare Thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise Thee." therefore, we testify publicly.
- James 5:14 - "Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord." therefore, we anoint with oil and pray for the healing of the sick.
